A beautiful pair of French hand-painted amphora pots from the late 19th century. The scene with cattle on one pot and figures on the other resembles imagery associated with the mythological story of Hermes and Apollo’s cattle. One depicts cattle and bulls whilst the other shows human figures, including a robed figure and a figure holding what appears to be a staff or serpent-entwined rod. Decorative geometric borders appear around the neck and lower body. Mint condition.
